- SUBWAY PERSPECTIVE
Mock Subway Ads Question MTA Intentions / Perspective Let's face it: we don't know enough about someone's individual situation to judge them. Living in NYC for many years has taught me how close we all are to poverty, and how much we all need to take care of each others' individual situations. Each day I ride the subway with strangers from all walks of life, and every single person has a story - not everyone is able to afford a subway fare, and that sucks. A few weeks ago some crafty mock subway ads appearing throughout the subway began calling into question the MTA's intentions behind the recent fare evasion crackdown. The ads are clearly fake but the motive seems to come from a place of empathy. AMNewYork's Nicole Brown writes about it in this recent article, and I highly recommend the read: "Swipe it Forward" #mta #subway #advertising #nyc
- Booth Time in HBO's "Succession"
If My Take was Perfect, why do we need to do another one? - Roman Roy Episode 8 of HBO's Succession shows a fabulous recording scene in which Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin) goes behind the mic to record a tribute message for his father, Logan (Brian Cox). When given direction by the engineer, this session goes off the rails! Totally worth a watch... Also congrats to the cast and crew on being renewed for a third season! #hbo #succession #TV #booth #recording

- Capturing the Voice of a City
Sounds of New York: Manhattan During downtime between auditions, I take walks around the city with my iPhone camera and Sennheiser Ambeo Smart Headset and capture the sounds of busy Manhattan life. Take in everything around you - conversations fading into a crowd, cars and busses whizzing by, passing foot steps, horns and hums. It's hard to take everything about NYC for granted. But then again, why would you? #sounds #newyork #nyc #voice
- Review: Vocalzone Throat Pastilles
Excellent for a dry, scratchy throat that needs to be ON GAME for a morning session I've been using these lozenges for about a year, at the recommendation of Lauren McCullough, and I now bring them with me to in-person auditions and studio sessions of all kinds. My goal is centered around vocal health, and much like the Voice37 Drops I reviewed earlier, these help out when performance looms. They're a great last-minute throat fixer if things get a little strained, and a long-term remedy during a dry session. #voice #health #reviews #vocalzone
- I'm Watching: Vimeo
Vimeo's "Vimeo can help**with your videos" is engaging & hilarious in a very now kind of way... I'm into marketing campaigns that can keep my attention in this era of easily-skippable ad placements, and this one is just weird enough to make me re-watch even during constant streaming repeats. Review: Voice37 Vocal Therapy Drops Voice37 Drops Vocal Booster from Clyor would have come in handy a few years ago before an early morning voice over session. At the time, my voice wasn't in top shape and that groggy morning sound got in the way of what could have been a smoother recording. Move over lemon tea with honey -- ENTER Voice37, a quick remedy I've been using lately for those very situations and vocal health in general. Plus, it's always a good idea to take care of the instrument that happens to be our livelihood. Only this time, the secret ingredients include an unbeatable combination of Fennell Seed, Horse Radish Root, Slippery Elm Bark, Thyme, Celery Seed, and Horehound Herb. Got that? Clyor Voice37's motto is "Backstage concerns, Front Stage Results" so it goes without saying that countering performance anxiety is a top priority. And with our "stage" being a vocal booth, subtle vocal inconsistencies are more noticeable. However you want to put it, whether it’s croakiness, gruffness, huskiness, or throatiness, Clyor Voice37 addresses the nesses and gets you from grate to great quickly, effectively, and naturally. Now, you might be thinking "Aren't gruffness and huskiness marketable voice qualities?" For some performers, yes. Voice37 can have universal appeal especially for those who specialize in genres like video games and animation, which, at times, require intense vocal output. As with any type of performer, stage and otherwise, constant strain can lead to bigger problems down the road. So, why not give it a shot? Our throats will thank us. #voice37 #vocalremedy #clyor #health #review #products

Ear-Catching: Ray Donovan meets Hamlet While browsing YouTube a few weeks ago, I came across this amusing video featuring Liev Schreiber playing Hamlet...as Ray Donovan or as he calls it "Southie Hamlet." It's a couple of years old but still holds up today. If you're fan of the popular Showtime series or an admirer of Shakespeare you'll appreciate this. Check it out below! #RayDonovan #Hamlet #Shakespeare W Magazine. "Liev Schreiber Auditions for Ray Donovan as Hamlet". YouTube 29 June 2016. 12 Dec 2018
